The Society
The EUROMEDICAL Group was established in the early 2000s, from the desire to bring together different experiences in the provision of activities for the management of hospital technological services, especially dealing with environmental audits and inspections, including sanitization with state-of-the-art instruments, as well as the design, implementation management and maintenance of hospital, industrial and food technological systems.
The Mission is aimed at the overall management of the technical sector, taking care of the life cycle of technologies within both public and private hospital facilities.
Health care facilities represent a complex environment, historically considered “high-risk” in that, it necessarily exposes those who pass through them to a high risk of infection. Special care is planned in order to ensure the safety of patients and operators.
Bacterial contamination is mainly attributable to airborne microorganisms, whose primary source of import is staff: operating team and patients. Other secondary sources include faulty air intake from the VCCC (contamination-controlled ventilation and air conditioning) system or contamination of introduced instrumentation. As part of an overall assessment of environmental conditions, it is considered important to consider the level of microbiological pollution, as this parameter is closely related to sanitation and hygiene control procedures.
For routine environmental microbiological monitoring, quantitative detections of total microbial load are sufficient. The purpose of the surveys is to identify sources of infection and to test the effectiveness of the behavioral norms adopted by staff and the cleaning protocols implemented.
Risks Related to Health Care Facilities

Physical risk
Thermal discomfort of hospital staff, patients and visitors resulting from inadequate level of microclimate parameters.

Chemical hazard
Alteration of metabolic mechanisms resulting from environmental contamination caused by toxic, harmful, or carcinogenic substances.

Microbial risk
Alteration of organ, tissue, cellular, and immune mechanisms resulting from qualitatively and/or quantitatively inadequate environmental contamination by microorganisms.
Microclimate Checks
The reference Italian legislation is represented by D. P.R. 14.01.978 (in addition to the technical standard UNI EN 14644 – and ISPESL Guidelines on standards of safety and hygiene of work in the operating department), which, as part of the minimum structural, technological and organizational requirements for the exercise of health care activities of public and private facilities, as far as the operating department is concerned, sets minimum plant requirements that provide for an air conditioning system such as to ensure the following hygrothermal characteristics:
- winter and summer indoor temperature 2 0 – 2 4 ° C
- summer and winter relative humidity 40-60 % – air changes / hour (outdoor air without recirculation) 1 5 v / h
- air filtration 9 9 , 9 7
- air speed 0.05-0.15 m/s
- average radiant temperature D T < 2
- effective temperature 1 7 , 5 – 2 4
- PMV (mean expected grade) +/- 0.5
- PPD (% expected dissatisfied) < 10 %.
Microbiological Verifications
ISPESL guidelines on safety and occupational hygiene standards in the operating department stipulate the periodicity of inspections according to the class of operating rooms.
| PLACE | PERIODICITY. |
| Operating room < ISO class 5 |

| Operating room < ISO class 7 |

Control and verification activities
- advice on electromedical technology available in the market for the most appropriate choice for actual needs (technology assestement);
- Programming and technical evaluation of purchases;
- Testing and functional verification upon installation of the equipment;
- Preventive and corrective maintenance of in-service equipment;
- Safety and functional checks on in-service equipment according to IEC 62/5 general and IEC 62/XX particular standards.
- Qualitative, instrumental, and performance testing of electromedical equipment according to IEC 62.122 standards
